Chloe Springis
Welcome to ChloeSpringis
The past two years I have spent very intentionally pursuing artistic improvement. I have seen lots of progress through my supervised lessons, and in turn, has trickled out into my practice. In my studio classes, my main material has been charcoal, which is in opposition to my personal work which primarily is in color using acrylic paint, and oil pastel. These two working together have pushed me to expand my range in value and usage of space. In both personal and assigned projects, I love working from observation. Being able to see an object and digest its form and produce a reflection of that item instead of my preconceived idea of it I find to be such a wonderful meaningful challenge. I am over the moon thrilled to play that game corresponding to colors as well, working with limited pallets. A large source of my inspiration is taken from moments of my life, I work largely from photo reference for this. Style wise my work taps into a feminine surrealist narrative. I draw lots of inspiration from Christina Quarrels, Justine Kurland, Yayoi Kusama, and Gustav Klimt. I admire their use of color, pattern, and the human figure.
